Today in my test report - the 11th (in words eleventh) WLAN socket with consumption measurement in the test series "Smart switch and rule". This time again a "new" manufacturer, namely EIGHTREE. The small smart socket is available individually and in a double pack - individually it costs around 16 euros, in a double pack a socket comes to around 12 euros.
Like most of the WiFi sockets tested so far, the Eightree socket can also be used with various apps. Again, the Smart Life app is recommended - but I use the Gosund app for convenience. The apps hardly differ and have identical functions.

Setup

The setup actually worked without any problems. However, I plugged in both sockets at the same time and added both to the app at the same time. I would avoid this approach. There were some problems. First, one of the outlets set up with no problems, the second timed out while setting up. After the demolition, however, both were added to the app and both could also be switched. Unfortunately, voice control via Alexa only worked with one socket.

Fixing this problem took some patience and coincidence. I then removed both in the app and added them individually again. Then the voice control worked with the second socket, but no longer with the first. I then repeated this process several times in different order and finally both worked with voice control.

I think if you install them one by one from the start, you shouldn't have these problems. I turn a blind eye here and don't deduct any points for the socket.

The Eightree WLAN socket works perfectly (after initial antics). The circuit works quickly and reliably via a switch on the device, via an app and then also via voice control.

Power consumption of the Eightree outlet

Of course, the Eightree WLAN socket itself also consumes a little electricity. But the power consumption is also within the range of the competitor products tested so far. The self-consumption in the OFF state is 0.4 watts and in the ON state 1 watt. It is not the most economical, but the differences are not too big here.

The test verdict - rating

Good and above all compact WLAN socket with consumption measurement
The Eightree WiFi socket is one of the smallest WiFi sockets tested to date (see also the Gosund, the TP-Link or the NOUS WiFi socket in the practical test) - it does not block any adjacent sockets. With a little patience, it should be easy to set up (do not set it up at the same time) and the Eightree is not an extreme power consumer with 0.4 W to 1.0 W in operation. If you need more than one of these sockets, you should buy them in a double pack, here there is a not inconsiderable potential for savings.
